Markus píše:Have you had any negative reactions on the concept of a funnel? We've ran Sailors, and most people found it either great or OK. But one player is quite disenchanted. We're all used to OSR gaming. But, quote: "I expected an old-school game (like we had when we played Tower of the Stargazer in Labyrinth Lord) and did't get it." His point is that the idea of playing four commoners, juggling them around, sending those expendable ones to the front while keeping the "beloved" one in the back, is jarring. It leads to all the interesting (expendable) characters dying while the one he's been keeping hasn't actually done much. Stuff like that. It's not his specific comment I'd like to discuss, rather the fact that he found the whole concept counter-OSR. Have you had players like that?
Terry Olson píše:No, I haven't had any players who felt that the funnel was counter-OSR. I had one who tried to make his crappy-stats character take the fall for his other zeros, but somehow he survived and is kicking butt at lvl 2. You never know...
Bastien Pilon píše:As for the whole "counter-OSR" thing, there's more than one old school being enjoyed out there. I mean come on, we can't even all agree on what the R in the acronym stands for much less on particular tones and play styles.
Shawn Rice píše:I had one player get up from the table and sit in another room. He hated the funnel. He couldn't stand all of his characters dieing. Another player that excelled in all the chaos of the funnel admitted to me later in the campaign that he didn't like the funnel either. I was surprised by both reactions. I love the funnel but I am the judge and not a player.
Lee Nielson píše:I've had the majority of the party die before and when the survivors re-grouped with reinforcements to explore the adventure site again, they were attacked by the undead corpses of their fallen comrades. So having died the previous week, they had to destroy themselves again. Which was nice.
Kirwyn píše:My players love the funnel, we don't play DCC that much anymore but I've adapted it to S&W and 5e at their request because "it doesn't feel right starting at 1st level."
A samotný autor dobrodružství:
Harley Stroh píše:Folks expecting a retro clone experience are in for a surprise. Of that group, some may be delighted, but certainly some will be disappointed.
V té diskuzi taky někdo přejmenoval Pathfinder na Mathfinder. Úžasný.
